Ally

"Every blade of grass has its angel that bends over it and whispers, "Grow, grow." The Talmud

She is on a journey.
One that is started earlier by some,
later by others,
and not at all by still others, too afraid.
She is becoming who she was meant to be.

She studies beauty.
She sees it all around her and
reaches out to share it.
She appreciates the people in her life
and extends gentle kindness to those who
are wise enough to accept.

She documents her journey with self-portraits.
Sometimes, in these pictures, there are two shadows.
One is her,
the other is her angel.

And she grows.

Submitted to Prompt 11  for mindlovemisery who encourages us to write about an inspirational figure. Ally is one of my blogging favorites.

Today's poem was inspired by Ally at  Shybiker. I was burning myself out trying to figure out how to do all of the reading, writing, and replying in blogland. Ally writes a lovely life and fashion blog and demonstrates true beauty. Then one day I thought about the quote from the Talmud and the rest fell into place. I have been wanting to post this one for a while, but the time never seemed right. What a better time to post it than after two months of broken computer slump, while I am still writing replying to your comments and trying to get my blogging legs back. Am I ever out of blogging shape! (I wonder how many times I can write "blogging" in front of things before it gets annoying?...I've already past that point, sorry!) Okay, so I am getting all blabbertypie right now, so that is my cue to start wrapping up.

Thank you Ally for being so sweet and inspiring me out of a slump, thanks dVerse for giving me a forum to share Ally's poem, and thanks y'all for visiting!

...later...
So I have been reading the posts randomly over at dVerse and almost all the ones I have read so far have had elements of relationship heartache. Funny how that happens sometimes. (or else I missed the "post about heartbreak" memo.)

  1. smiles. take your time getting your legs back...becoming who you were meant to be is a rather cool thing...having an angel along for the trip, all the better.
