3WW Submission: Contagion
Contagion
My girl
wakens
me. The brutal
virus gropes at her. Her
fevered vomiting transfers it
to me.
I douse
myself
in alcohol.
Naughty virus makes us
worship pale porcelain gods. I
hate colds!
heidi
written for 3WW using 3/6/13 and 2/27/13 prompts.
I missed last week's prompt so I worked it into this week's submission. The words for this week are brutal, grope, and transfer. The ones for last week were douse, naughty, pale. My sweeties have been sick this week and it is horrible and funny, and what is most on my mind.

You've captured it well.
ReplyDeleteYour link at 3WW just goes back to 3WW, not here.
I had to come around the long way
Cheers!

ReplyDeleteThank you Sheilagh! Everyone is much better. I think the weekend will help :)
DeleteUggg, worshipping those pale porcelain gods is never fun. Hope everyone feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteThank you Robyn. They're still tired, but doing much better. They haven't been called to worship lately. :s
Deleteheidi - this poem perfectly bouquets the emotions we feel when
ReplyDeletea loved one is ill.
Thank you Paige! I was feeling really frustrated when I wrote this and it helped.
DeleteFirst, thanks again for stopping by my blog and commenting. The restaurant reference was hidden in "Broadway at 86th," eighty-sixing something on the menu means "we;re out of that dish now, so don't take orders for it. I've also been known to 86 boyfriends in the past, LOL.
ReplyDeleteSorry your little ones are sick. Riley used to be fine one minute, and then she'd topple like a house of cards... and I hate puking incidents, although I always hid it when she was sick.
Being a parent has these moments, but don't the others make you forget? It's like forgetting labor pains... the reward so completely outweighs the pain. Hope all are on the mend, and stay well, Heidi! Amy
Hi Amy! Okay, I missed the other restaurant reference (lol). My sweeties are better, thanks. It is scary how they are okay, and then they aren't. I am looking forward to the moments that will help get rid of the pukey memories! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteHope all is settled now..not nice..but it did result in a really strong poem..
ReplyDeleteThank you Jae! It is better now.
DeleteHow I hate the worship of a porcelain god...hope your communion with it is over
ReplyDeleteMuch better now, thanks. Very funny comment.
