Grace's Poetics prompt today is to use the amazing artwork of Sunita Khedekar as inspiration for a poem about Spring. I love this piece! Please visit her Facebook page or her Blog. I have chosen to write a Collum Lune (one of my favorite forms...very Twitter friendly) about my sweet girl. For more poems using the art of Sunita Khedekar as inspiration, go check out the submissions over at dVerse!
she is new life buddy...i like how you associated spring with her...and took this in a very interesting direction heidi....very cool response...
ReplyDeleteThanks Brian. I put the color part of the prompt to the side, didn't I? I love this picture, and it made me want to write about her in a way that wasn't about her illness or delays (or my inability to cope with them.) She is so much more.
Deleteyes, children are our hope, like spring brings hope.
ReplyDeleteShe is my heart!
Deleteoh that is beautiful...i hope you read it to her... i miss my daughters - they'll be back by beginning of next month so..
ReplyDeleteThank you Claudia! I did read it to her. I'm so happy your daughters are coming home...I'm already dreading my babies growing up.
DeleteDaughters are always a wonder:) little flowers!!!
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the lasagna, Vandana! Thank you for the visit and I have to agree, daughters are always a wonder!
DeleteChildren are precious. It is a gift for a mother to have a daughter and a father to have a son and a precious gift when we have grand-daughters and can see the links travelling down the ancestral line as this image depicts and as you write.
ReplyDeleteHi Roslyn! Welcome to the lasagna! I love this picture. I am so grateful to Sunita Kedekar for allowing us to use her art and to Grace for introducing her to me! Thank you for the visit and the kind comment. She is a gift.

DeleteI love the form and imagery of spring as your young daughter ~ Lovely indeed ~
ReplyDeleteHi Grace! Thank you!
DeleteBeautiful--children ARE a lot like spring! Full of life, sweetness, and a volatility that sometimes has to be held a bit in check like garden weeds! Excellent work.
ReplyDeleteHi Nico! Thank you! Oh that volatility...some days I have to remind myself that it is actually a good thing...all part of growing up. And on those days, I have to remind myself a lot.:)
DeleteI agree...children are like spring...sprouting something new all the time. A sweet tribute to your daughter...very nice.
