Racism and the Naughty White Guys

lately, race has been
                all                     over                       the                      news

the racist white rancher
    spewing his vomit
(while promoting treason and exercising his second amendment rights)

and the racist white basketball owner
who seems to have gotten a pass
                        for so many years...

and people can shake their heads

tut

tut

tut

and pat themselves on the back

                     for being open

                                        and discussing race issues

but it seems

                   (to me at least)

we are still just
                   giving attention

to
   the
       naughty
               white
                     guys...

while a whole village is still looking for their daughters

#BringBackOurGirls

So...I have realized that I want to take more chances with my writing and write about the stuff that makes me uncomfortable and still angry. I want to write about the things that I am still not sure that I have a vocabulary for. Somewhere along the way my inner activist has started to wake up and she is super pissed. Why are the discussions about race still focused on white men? And I am not trying to say this is "reverse racism" because there really is no such thing.  I am worried about why the conversations about race are started with the actions of the white guys? And why is that more important than a school of missing girls?

Maybe it's apples and oranges, but I don't think so. I think that there is a link there that I am still trying to work out. So, you may see more of these types of posts here. And I am open to a grown up discussion in the comments about race. Although, I will delete any comments that are hate speech, or lies, or trolling.  And, since you've already read to this point, and are still online, go hashtag #BringBackOurGirls on the social media of your choice. Thanks!

    1. Thank you Brian! I liked writing down better than just arguing with the mirror while I brush my teeth! :)

Hi! Thank you for the visit! Grab a plate and a sweet tea and let's dig in. It may take a while, but I always try to reply and return visits.
