so touching...I had a friend so dear as well, she was 18. I will take joy in thinking they are hanging out together now somewhere, keeping each other company. lovely tribute.
i loved the picture of Woobie! Emma was 5 when I took these pictures and almost 14 when she died. i still have dreams sometimes that she is running around in a field that I have never seen.
hi robyn! i loved the pictures of your puppies. lately, i have been posting and then i'll go read the blogs on my bloglist and see that there is a common element between the posts. it is amazing how quickly dogs can become part of the family.
This is so touching Heidi and so sad too I haven't had pets for years (been living in small apartments)but I still miss the pets I have lost, for me they are friends often my only friends.
I have had pets (mostly dogs) since the day I left my father's house. I have cried more than a few times when they have left me but the love and companionship they offers more than makes up for the heartache when they are gone. This poem says a lot...great writing
Dogs can do that to our hearts. If you 've never seen it, look up "God and Dog" on youtube. It's as succinct and beautiful as this offering. THanks.
ReplyDeleteThat was a very sweet video, thank you for sharing. Dogs are magic, I think.

Deletehugs...
ReplyDeletelosing a pet is losing a part of the family...
its not easy...i am glad for the time and connection you had...
thanks brian. the five years refers to how long she's been gone and sometimes it seems like it just happened.
DeleteI am so sorry! I never understood how people could love a pet so much until I got my own dogs.

ReplyDeleteI think pets are ideal subjects for poetry. They are good friends and get right into your heart.

thanks Griz! We are slowly working our way back to bringing home a new dog. Hopefully sometime soon, and maybe a slightly older dog.
