dive down
into the briny depths
the cold dark
wrapped around
dive down
into the everyday
and the light
that comes with
the mundane
it can break you
trying to be
exceptional
trying to be
more than
dive down into what
makes you ordinary
and wait there
letting your lungs fill
with something new
dive down and let go
accept what you cannot change
accept the distant light
that calls you down
and down and
down
dive down
let go
dive
down.

I think this is just excellent, Heidi. Such clarity.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, however, I never could dive. Always had to jump in head first, then try and get awkwardly turned around in the water if I wanted to go under.
Thanks Bone!
DeleteThat sounds like you may have ended up with a nose full of water a lot.
Really speaks to me Heidi--it is exhausting--the quest to be exceptional!
ReplyDeleteThank you Audrey. It is exhausting!
