Go Hang a Salami I'm a lasagna Hog.
I wasn't going to write a palindrome tonight, but
I thought it might be fun to try.
I read the cool dVerse prompt and comments and
I read a page of palindromes so
ideas raced through my head

It's late, and still, I can't help myself. I read the dVerse prompt and then I read a page of palindromes and there was one with lasagna in it! How could I not write something?
*even later* first: hey claudia and rowan! thanks for stopping by! second: i have been reading other posts and it seems that i have (as with most form attempts) a "sort of". i was supposed to flip the lines after "because" but as with all my other sort of's (the ones because i just say no to meter) i like how it turned out.
11/15/13 edit: I changed the title palindrome back to it's original form. I like it better this way.

haha...of course you couldn't resist the lasagna...smiles... they're tricky to write, i read through a palindrome site as well and was just amazed at how people puzzled them out...great fun...smiles
ReplyDeletethose sites are so cool. i would like to try one with my pen and notebook rather than my netbook. i think there would be a difference. so nice of you to visit and i like the new profile pic.
DeleteLove it, Heidi!
ReplyDeletethanks Rowan, it was one of those were i smiled the whole time i was writing it.
DeleteHiya Heidi,
ReplyDeleteHow amazing, for you to find this particular palindrome.
And yes, a diamante would be a good idea. I will be playing around with that today.
hi aprille! a palindrome diamante is on my list now too. thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI was just thinking:
ReplyDeleteIf you replace the 13th letter [ the small -i-] with an apostrophe, it may look even better.
hi again aprille, i tried your suggestion, and i think that you're right.
DeleteSo all for lasagne well anytghing for poetry smiles loved it
ReplyDeleteHi Akila! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I liked your blog!
DeleteVery fun to experiment -- it loosens our circuitry, eh?
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of "Salam" as "peace" (Arabic), it is sad to hang it.
Ah, now I see Aprille's suggestion which cause the murder of Peace.
Ah the curse of a multi-lingual mind.
This is the first comment that I read after taking my daughter to school this morning. While I was driving, I started thinking about how "Salam" also meant "peace" and how that made the palindrome a little more aggressive, which I kind of liked. And how it could be seen as possibly phobic, which I didn't like. Then I thought about how peace is a homophone of piece, which I thought fit in with my whole lasagna theme, and then I thought, "oh shit! I'm about to pass my daughter's school, I need to concentrate more on driving when my sweetie-pies are in the car."
DeleteI think I am going to let it stay as is for now and revisit this poem in June, when I am planning on devoting the month to re-visiting previous posts and revising.
Thanks for the visit, although I do have a guilty conscience now that I have murdered Peace.
haha...that was def fun...saw that salami palindrome when i was reading about them too...smile.s..but you show how easy it can be...your lines were unforced and flowed nice....very cool...
ReplyDeleteHi Brian! Thank you. Once I knew what the middle line would be the rest kind of wrote itself.
DeleteI loved your conclusion and humorous take on the palindrome. Yes, I've been scratching my head about this too. Won't have the time to link up to it now, but it's food for thought for later. Experimentation never did anyone any harm (except those who experimented with electricity in the early days... and radium... and the atomic bomb perhaps).
ReplyDeleteThank you Marina Sofia! I did once experiment with some vegetarian fake beef in the ninties that I also found harmful but that just lends an extra excitement. I am looking forward to post!
DeleteFun poem and lasagna - who could resist ~ I think we should experiment and just dive into the challenge ~
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this much ~
Hi Heaven! So nice to have you here. I always recommend not resisting lasagna.
DeleteI like how it turned out, too... and I'm glad you took the challenge!
ReplyDeleteThank you Laurie, it was a lot of fun!
Deletewe don't know unless we try... thanks for trying
ReplyDeleteHi Wolfsrosebud! Thank you for stopping by, and I'm glad that you liked the lasagna.
DeleteThis is great! To me, palindromes mirror the way my mind works--I can never tell whether I'm coming or going. Heidi, thanks for your kind comments over at my place, and I am sorry I have been so far behind in reading and commenting here. It's definitely not from lack of desire; the double shifts at work are taking a toll on my free time. I guess I'm getting older--I used to be able to crank out double shifts like nothing, run on a few hours sleep, but now--well, I need my beauty rest more than ever! Anyway, thanks, and great writing here!
ReplyDeleteHi Nico! I'm glad to see you. Thank you for the awesome comment, and please, no need for apologies. I really like your blog and I had an opportunity last night to catch up with some of your posts that I missed. It was completely my pleasure. My big sweetie is also working double shifts like crazy right now, so I get how tiring that can be. I hope you are able to get lots of good sleep soon!
DeleteI love your palindrome! This one was really a challenge trying to think and read forwards and backwards.
ReplyDeleteHi Razzamadazzle! Welcome to the lasagna. I am so happy that you liked it. This prompt was really a fun challenge. Thank you for stopping by and commenting.
DeleteVery fun. Not exactly sure that it would be to easy to hang a lasagna, though.
ReplyDeleteHi Victoria! You want to love your lasagna, never hang it! I am so happy that you stopped by and enjoyed my post.
DeleteYou did a great job, Heidi...loved this. I'm glad that lasagna caught your eye on the list!
ReplyDeleteGayle ~
Hi Gayle! I loved this prompt! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. I am always on the lookout for lasagna.
DeleteA fun read, Heidi! Well done!
ReplyDeleteHey Charles! Thank you, it was fun to write.
